Scope Of Work
Located in the heart of San Francisco, Town School for Boys was established in 1939 and is an independent all-boys day school for kindergarten through eighth grade. Having outgrown the original building and striving to meet 21st-century curriculum objectives, Town School underwent the modernization of its campus, adding a STEM center with five labs, six flexible classrooms, three music and drama classrooms, two music practice rooms, a multipurpose performing arts and gym space, workrooms for teachers and community meeting spaces for parents.
In order to provide a state-of-the-art facility for students, J.J. Albanese was called on to perform structural concrete and site concrete on the updated building. The retrofit posed a number of complications that JJA’s professional team had to overcome, such as forming 35-foot walls in a tight, congested area. The crew worked through the shotcrete process with the client to make it a success, completing the job earlier than schedule with the help of single-sided formwork and JJA’s drive to get the job done.
